WITH LOVE FROM GHANA June 27, 2017 – Posted in: Everyday Living
“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination with reality, and instead of thinking of how things may be, see them as they are.” – Samuel Johnson
I’m currently in Ghana on a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of Lagos. It was a very spontaneous trip with my very spontaneous friends. We literally booked the tickets the day before we left. Recently, I’d seen some bloggers I admire take a rod trip to Accra and i’d wondered what the experience was like so we decided to road trip all the way from Ajah, Lagos to Accra Central Mall, Accra because simply wondering is never enough for me, I always have to experience and decide for myself.
The road trip to Ghana was definitely an experience (one I’m not entirely sure I’ll be keen to repeat). We went through Cotonou, Badagry, Togo to get to Accra and it took us about 16 hours. After being on the road from 6am to 10pm, we arrived the hotel exhausted and cranky (this did not stop us from clubbing the night we got in).

So far, Ghana has been fun for us. We’re staying in East Legon in Accra which is very centrally located and we’ve been total tourists. I absolutely love the flowers, plants and color so naturally our first stop was the popular Kokobrite Garden.
“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert
Having friends with aligned vision has made this trip everything. We’ve found serene locations and we’ve gotten bomb selfies.
Tip: (Travel with friends that have the patience to take you ‘instagram worthy’ pictures) Really, traveling in a group saves cost you would have otherwise covered on your own.
We’ve made new friends and formed new connections and it’s reminded me of the importance of exploring and discovering the world at large so i’m never stuck with a small vision of what i think i know. I’m living & loving life and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to create the life I want to live.
Reminder: The life you live is created by you so stop making excuses and waiting for the right time and ‘right’ situation
